WME celebrate results across 2022/23

As another financial year closes, we have taken some time to reflect on the successes of last year.

Despite what turned out to be an incredibly challenging year, with the development of the "energy price crises", 2022/23 reflects an incredibly successful year for WME in a number of ways.

Our flexible energy procurement strategy was stress tested and returned significant cost protection to our customers, delivering rates some 60% below the market across the year.

As a result this meant that WME was not required to use the Governments Energy Bill Relief Scheme, saving the taxpayer significantly.

Our fully managed service continued to make managing large multi site energy portfolio's simple and efficient for our customers. The highlight being that our bill validation service alone, saved customers some £2.85m across the year. These savings came from 6,360 incorrect invoices, which were challenged by our billing team.

We resolved 1,974 customer queries, and our siteworks team managed 164 jobs to completion.

In a year where we also recruited 3 new members of staff, we also saw our flexible gas and electricity frameworks approved by the department for education.

Our customer retention for the year was 99.6%.

Gavin Owen, Business Development Manager commented, "It has been a tumultuous year for the energy industry as a whole, which saw record breaking energy prices. We are delighted that we have been able to provide such significant cost protection to our customers, ensuring tight public sector budgets are protected. Under difficult circumstances, the WME team has continued to operate incredibly high service levels, which has resulted in another year of excellent business retention, and continued growth. WME continue to provide a cost effective, trusted and hassle-free energy solution to the public sector".
